Snow conditions, the snow forecast and your level of skiing or snowboarding all affect which ski pass you should get. Dilemma? Don’t worry, you don’t have to decide until a few days beforehand.
Chalet Morzine Top Tip! Talk to us about your skiing and snowboarding levels and let us collect your ski pass for you. No queues or advance payment needed. Your ski pass and piste map will be ready for you on arrival and on top of all that you get a discount!
This pass covers the whole area of Morzine-Les Gets and is the side of the mountain which you can ski back to chalet Morzine. It links the Pleney, Nyon, Morzine, Chavannes and Mont Chery in Les Gets and offers fantastic tree-lined skiing for all levels. There are plenty of beginner and easy intermediate slopes as well as some more challenging runs on Nyon and Chamossiere. This ski pass is recommended for all levels, particularly beginners, gentle intermediates and children, as the full area pass is not necessary at this level of skiing or snowboarding. However, there are plenty of challenging runs on this side too for the more advanced skier and less crowded off piste than Avoriaz.
For the more adventurous skiers and those wanting to put plenty of kilometres under their skis or snowboards, then the Portes du soleil ski pass is a much better option. The ski area stretches over 12 resorts including Chatel and several ski resorts in Switzerland and offers an amazing variety of terrain. The Avoriaz and Swiss sector can be accessed easily from Chalet Morzine. Just a 5 minute walk to the Super Morzine cable car or a short bus ride to the ‘Prodains’ cable car which whisks you straight up to the top of Avoriaz and into the heart of Portes du Soleil skiing.
Chalet Morzine Top Tip! If you plan on skiing for more than one day on the Avoriaz side then it is much better value to take the whole area pass. You can upgrade your pass for just one day from a local to an area. However, for this service, please note you would have to queue up at the lift pass office and leave your local pass there in exchange for the area pass, not forgetting to collect it before the day’s out from the office (that’s if you come back the same way!)

All resorts in the Portes du Soleil use the ‘hands-free’ liftpass system so you never need take off your gloves! The principle is simple: a microchip embedded in your liftpass is scanned remotely at lift barriers to release the turnstiles. But don’t have it in the same pocket as your mobile phone!
