Ski and snowboard lessons in Morzine

Thierry, the Chalet Morzine owner, has been a ski instructor with the local French ski school, ESF, for over 25 years. From Morzine, Thierry started skiing the pistes of Morzine and Avoriaz from the age of two. His English is fantastic (albeit with a bit of my Yorkshire twang) and he is one of the most sought after, experienced and popular instructors at the ski school. Guests of Chalet Morzine chalets can book Thierry on a private ski instructor basis for the week. Please note that this is still all booked through the ESF school.

With our expert on board, the Chalet Morzine Team can advise you on the all important snow conditions, the snow forecast, the best places to ski and snowboard in Morzine-Avoriaz and most importantly – which mountain restaurant to book! If you have Thierry as your private ski instructor, he is happy to do a personal medal ceremony in the chalet at the end of the week, which always goes down a treat with the children and all the family.

Due to our in depth knowledge and great local contacts, we can advise you extremely well on both group and individual ski and snowboard lessons and book everything for you in advance. We know how important it is to get this right, especially for the children.

Ecole du Ski Français (ESF)

• The main ski school in Morzine and the best one for overall value for money versus teaching hours
• 150 teachers, many of whom have excellent English and have skied Morzine-Avoriaz all of their lives
• Lessons available in all disciplines: down-hill skiing, cross country skiing, snowboarding, telemark, handicapped skiing, snow shoe trekking, hiking and off piste skiing
• All levels of instruction available, from beginner to competition standard
• Children can start taking lessons from the age of 3 in the dedicated children’s garden, called the ‘Piou Piou’ club
• Lessons in all formats: group lessons, private lessons, guiding, training courses, Portes du soleil circuits, ESF tests

Note
Private lesson bookings, including Thierry, have to be on a weekly basis when booked in advance. For example 9.30am to 12noon Monday to Friday or over the cheaper lunchtime slot 12.30pm to 2.30pm Monday to Friday. Adhoc private lessons can only be booked upon arrival in resort.

Snow School

A much smaller ski school, offering top quality instruction, with a much smaller number of participants per group. The instructors at the Snow School are native to Morzine and have come originally through the ESF. However, only the best English speakers are allowed to teach here. The snow school offers a variety of more flexible lessons and their intermediate ski clinics, just two afternoons a week, are very popular.
