Travelling to Morzine

Morzine-Avoriaz is one of the most accessible summer alpine activity resorts in the French Alps. The close proximity of Morzine to Geneva airport, Switzerland means that the journey overall is very short. Flights to Geneva from the UK can be as little as 1 hour 20 minutes and the short transfer time of just over an hour makes Morzine-Avoriaz an ideal family summer holiday destination.

Morzine by air

In the summer, airlines often change their flight programmes into Geneva year on year.

Easyjet logo easyJet overall, seems to be the most economical and flexible airline to come with and has flights to Geneva from many regional airports.

Skyscanner logo Flight comparison websites are also a useful tool, such as Skyscanner or Kayak. These will let you know which airlines are currently flying into Geneva and their current summer schedules.

These sites often give you options that you may not have thought of. Sometimes it is cheaper to fly out with one airline and back with another; for example, Easyjet on the outbound from Gatwick and then British Airways back into Gatwick. If you aren’t leaving a car at a UK airport and flexible enough with UK travel you could even do your inbound and outbound flights from different UK airports; for example Jet2 out of Leeds Bradford but back with Easyjet to Manchester. Worth a look!

Airport transfers from Geneva

However, should you wish to have an airport transfer, we can book this all for you with our preferred, reliable taxi companies; all of which offer free mountain bike carriage. We pass on all our preferential rates directly to our customers. You pay what we pay!

Taxi Morzine logo For large groups, we use Taxi Morzine as they have an excellent large minibus that can take up to 15 passengers, so you can all travel together.

For smaller parties, we use Skiidygonzales, who provide very economical shared transfer rates.

Car hire from Geneva

Due to the fabulous location of Morzine and the simply stunning surrounding area, we highly recommend hiring a car in the summer. It’s a very easy drive from Geneva.

All international flights come into Geneva on the Swiss side, which is the best for Morzine. Why?

  1. The cars on the Swiss side have the Swiss motorway sticker, which enables you to drive on the motorway to get to Morzine and not the long way round via the lake of Geneva.
  2. It is also far easier to pick up and drop off your car on the Swiss international side as this is where you take your flight from.
  3. The French side may be slightly cheaper, but it’s a very painful walk with luggage and kids through the other side of the airport to get to the car hire and the same for the drop off. People that have done it, swear they will never do it again.
