In and around Morzine-Avoriaz

The Goat Village

Offically called ‘Les Lindarets’ but known as the ‘Goat Village’ because of the numerous goats roaming freely around this unique mountain village. One of the most visited spots in the whole of the Haute-Savoie area, you can take the children who can feed the friendly, but greedy goats, buy some original souvenirs or have lunch in one of the popular local restaurants.

Lake Montriond

Lake MontriondThe 3rd largest lake in the region after Lake Geneva and Lake Annecy. A stunning area that has a beautiful circuit walk of approximately 5km. You can take out a kayak or canoe and explore the lake that way or take your fishing tackle and sit on the lake bank with the other local fisherman. The children could also go pony riding around the lake, walk further up to the Ardent Waterfall or have a go on 4×4 quad cars. There are beautiful grassy verges for picnics but there are two lovely restaurants too if you fancy just relaxing on a terrace and drinking in the spectacular views from this magnificent lake.

The Devil’s Bridge Gorges

Amazing natural rock formations can be seen in these spectacular gorges. Just 15 minutes away in Le Jotty on the way to Thonon Les Bains, these gorges offer a gripping picture of the power of erosion. Visited as early as 1893, they have been fitted out to be accessible for most people. The jagged profile of the sides and shaded colours give the site a spectacular appearance, which is accentuated by the magnificent forest surroundings.
