The summer in Morzine offers something for everyone, from gentle rambles to adrenalin fuelled activities. Here are just a few ideas of things to do in this stunning alpine area. So much to do, so little time…
Negotiate rapids, rocks and waterfalls in an inflatable raft. Your guide will take you down the rapids and through gorges, pointing out any wildlife on the way. Either float down and just soak up the atmosphere or take a route that guarantees a real adrenaline rush! Perfect as part of your summer adventure holiday.
Take a running jump off the side of the Super Morzine cliff (strapped to an instructor of course!) and glide over the spectacular mountain scenery. It’s a very popular activity in the French Alps and often late afternoon in Morzine the sky is filled with paragliders all soaking up the views of this amazing area from way above!
A unique water and rock adventure which takes place in Morzine, at the Nyon waterfall. Prepare to get very, very wet as you climb and swim down mountain rivers through spectacular gullies, slide, abseil and jump off amazing rock formations into cascading waterfalls.
With some of the world’s most stunning downhill for your mountain biking holiday, Morzine is unmissable. Starting at the top with phenomenal Alpine panoramas, they quickly descend into tight, berm-ridden trails. For the cross country hound, fast rooty forest sections, technical rocky switch-backs, fast flowing single track and exposed high Alpine routes are all there for you to explore. For beginners and families there are plenty of ‘Green’ XC Routes and purpose built beginners downhill trails. However you decide to come down the mountain, the views and scenery are simply stunning.
Swimming pools never fail to please families. It’s often all the children want to do…
The walking and hiking in Morzine-Avoriaz is simply stunning. The wild flowers, wild animals and the panoramic Alpine scenery is just breathtaking. From easy beginner rambles to challenging peaks, there is something for everyone here. With the Multi Pass, ramblers and hikers have access to over 850km of walks and trails for just €1 per day!
Offically called ‘Les Lindarets’ but known as the ‘Goat Village’ because of the numerous goats roaming freely around this unique mountain village. One of the most visited spots in the whole of the Haute-Savoie area, you can take the children who can feed the friendly, but greedy goats, buy some original souvenirs or have lunch in one of the popular local restaurants.
The 3rd largest lake in the region after Lake Geneva and Lake Annecy. A stunning area that has a beautiful circuit walk of approximately 5km. You can take out a kayak or canoe and explore the lake that way or take your fishing tackle and sit on the lake bank with the other local fisherman. The children could also go pony riding around the lake, walk further up to the Ardent Waterfall or have a go on 4×4 quad cars. There are beautiful grassy verges for picnics but there are two lovely restaurants too if you fancy just relaxing on a terrace and drinking in the spectacular views from this magnificent lake.
Amazing natural rock formations can be seen in these spectacular gorges. Just 15 minutes away in Le Jotty on the way to Thonon Les Bains, these gorges offer a gripping picture of the power of erosion. Visited as early as 1893, they have been fitted out to be accessible for most people. The jagged profile of the sides and shaded colours give the site a spectacular appearance, which is accentuated by the magnificent forest surroundings.
