We offer an absolutely fabulous ski-in, ski-out location Find out more
Yes, the sheer thought of it can make you want to hide under the duvet. However, before you have a panic in front of the wardrobe and washing pile, make a coffee and have a good read through the info below. You will make it on your family summer holiday…
Before you start, check out our family friendly chalet check list, for the equipment we have. No need to bring any potties, sterilisers, etc. Still unsure? Then check with Lindsey first. We will probably have it, but it may be pink not blue. For mum, we have lovely L’Occitane shower cream, body lotion and hand soap in the bathrooms. All in plentiful 500ml hand pump size, so no need to pack excess in your toilet bag. All your towels and linen are included, for toddler/baby too, with an additional towel change in the week.
To make the suitcase lighter and keep easyjet happy, Chalet Morzine can organise a tailor made baby pack for you on arrival. Just let us know your normal brand of products, nappy sizes, wipes, creams, nappy sacks, shampoo etc and we can have this all ready for you on arrival.
We have a washing machine, tumble dryer and great drying room – so you can pack a little lighter in the knowledge that you can wash things through. The charge for a wash and dry is 10 Euros.
Chalet Morzine Top Tip! Pop in some of your own sensitive washpowder – a change of powder can sometimes irritate children’s skin.
There is a reasonably sized Carrefour supermarket in town and a cheaper supermarket, Lidl style, near to the chalet. SMA formula isn’t available but other brands are. Babyfood is plentiful but not often organic.
There are two big pharmacies in Morzine that have an excellent choice of medicine, including a good choice of homeopathic alternatives. ‘Doliprane’, is the French version of Calpol and can be cheaper than buying in the UK. However, perhaps best to bring a few travel sized sachets just in case a temperature comes on in the middle of the night. Don’t forget prescription medicines often left behind in the fridge. A fridge is available for your use in the chalet, to store medicines.
If you do need to visit the doctor we have a good choice of medical centres in Morzine and Les Gets. Bring your European health cards, they may sometimes accept it. Make sure you have full medical travel insurance as it can add up. The nearest hospital is at Thonon-Les Bains, a 30 minute drive away. Any taxi trips to the hospital are fully refunded on your medical insurance.
So with all that in mind, what shall you put in the case?
The weather is generally very warm in the summer, but it can be quite cool in the evening. It is the mountains, so bring some wet weather things too just in case. Good idea to have a look at the weather forecast before coming, just to help decide what to pack.
We have wireless internet throughout the chalet.
Be careful with liquids and babyfood. Make sure that they don’t exceed the airline limit and that you can re-seal them once opened. All the airlines have different allowances, so check before you fly.
Consider meals that are going to be needed en-route and also in case of delays. Factor in, arrival time through the airport and also approx an hour and half door to door to the chalet for the transfer. Snack food such as raisins, breadsticks, chopped up fruit etc are great, anything to stave off a tantrum. Upon arrival, it’s Geneva, Switzerland, so Swiss Francs. You can pay in Euros, but the change will be Swiss, so don’t go to the cash point at the airport as Morzine doesn’t accept Swiss Francs.
Overall enjoy the journey, your fantastic family summer holiday at the end will be worth it!
Chalet Morzine Top Tip! Bubble mixture & a disposable camera are a great way to pass the time!
