A summer activity holiday in the mountains is absolutely perfect for all the family. There really is something for everyone… from 3 months to 83! As a mum, I thought it might be good to have an easy list to see what summer activities were possible for your family group. Knowing how to satisfy everyone with differing ages, needs and requirements can be a tricky business. I am sure you can see that Morzine-Avoriaz really is a child friendly summer destination.

Lake Montriond

The smaller lake to swim in and paddle at the edge with plenty of grassy verges for picnics. You can swim in the larger lake, great for triathlon training.

Merry-go-round

Antique merry-go-round outside the Tourist Office in the square. €2 a go. Cheaper if you buy tickets in bulk.

High ropes adventure at the Dereches Park

Cascade Aventure at Nyon Waterfall

With a guide; initiation from 5 years old. Proper outings from 7-8 years old. Ensure the children have all the proper protective clothing.

Climbing

Learn to climb a mountain rock face or have a go on one of the climbing walls.

Summer sledging

Canoeing/kayaking

At Lake Montriond a small boating school for canoeing and kayaking on the lake.

Children’s courses and lessons at the 18 hole golf course in Les Gets and at the 9 hole golf course in Avoriaz.

Bike riding

Lots of great areas to have family bike rides around lakes and rivers.

Cinema

English films at least once a week.

Exploration of underground caves.

River-trekking

Track the river with the help of a guide.

With a map and a compass, you will search for points individually or in a group.
